Valves and protective devices

Valves and protective devices for increased safety and service life

Via cocks, shut-off valves, valve manifolds or monoflanges, pressure measuring instruments can be securely separated from the process during commissioning, maintenance or calibration. Protective devices, such as syphons, overload protection and snubbers, increase the service life and extend the application spectrum of pressure measuring instruments. In addition to the extensive selection of instrumentation valves and accessories, WIKA also offers the qualified assembly of various individual parts to form a complete measuring assembly (“instrument hook-up”).

What WIKA valves and protective devices are there?

In order to be able to perform commissioning, maintenance or calibration of pressure measuring instruments, they must be securely isolated from the process. For this purpose, WIKA offers a wide range of instrumentation valves, which safely disconnect instruments, such as pressure gauges, switches or transmitters, by closing them off:

  • Stopcocks
  • Shut-off valves
  • Valve manifolds
  • Monoflanges
  • Needle valves
  • Multiport valves
  • Block-and-bleed valves
  • Monoblocks
  • Ball valves

To increase the service life of pressure measuring instruments, protective devices such as syphons, overload devices, snubbers, cooling elements and pressure gauge in-line filters are used. At the same time, these serve to extend the range of application.

What is a monoblock valve?

A monoblock is a compact, reducing station which is used for the high-pressure range. The entire high-pressure part of a natural gas reduction station is provided by a filter with optional separating section and a heat exchanger with stainless steel pipes. A distinction is made between monoblocks with threaded connection, which are used for the limited space conditions of control panels and valve batteries and monoblocks with flange connections, which are used in applications with natural gas and aggressive media. In addition, there are monoblocks for sampling and injection processes, which have a probe for sampling and are also used for injection processes.

When is it suitable to use industrial ball valves?

Ball valves have a diverse range of application in industry. They are used in the simple distribution of compressed air through to demanding applications in the oil and gas industry, and are especially suitable for applications with natural gas and aggressive media. Due to their very easy cleaning, ball valves are recommended in industry, above all, for liquid and gaseous media. A distinction is also made based the type of use: The model PBV-FS industrial ball-valve with split valve body is used for pipelines, especially for natural gas applications and applications with aggressive media. The model HPBV ball valve, on the other hand, is suitable for liquid media in high-pressure applications.

What purpose do needle valves serve?

Needle valves are used in industry to safely isolate or vent pressure gauges, switches or transmitters from the process. The WIKA model IV10 needle valves and the IV11 multiport valves are particularly suitable for liquid, gaseous, aggressive and non-crystallising media, as well as those that are not highly viscous. The IV10 needle valve is available with an optional vent connection, while the IV11 multiport valve is already fitted with two connections as standard. These can be used both for venting and for connecting additional instruments.

Easily select the product most suitable for you directly from our product portfolio in our WIKA online shop.

WIKA is happy to support you in the selection of the correct components for your application. Alongside the extensive selection of instrumentation valves and accessories, WIKA also offers qualified assembly of different individual components into a complete measuring arrangement (“instrument hook-up”). The WIKA valves and protective devices can also be combined with diaphragm seal systems. Most of our accessories portfolio can be delivered directly from stock.
